Increasing the length of public bus routes in Dubai to 20 kilometers in 2026

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai reported that it is currently working on implementing public bus routes in the emirate, as part of a plan to implement new special routes for buses and taxis with a length of 13.1 km, distributed over six vital streets, namely Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, 2nd of December, and Al-Satwa Street. Al Nahda, Omar Bin Al Khattab, and Naif, to increase the length of bus routes to 20 kilometers by the end of next year 2026.

In detail, the Director of the Planning and Business Development Department at the Public Transport Corporation of the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, Adel Shakri, told Emirates Today that the Roads and Transport Authority encourages mass transportation by relying on public transportation in the emirate because of the ease and convenience it provides to users, and then We are always interested in launching transportation routes, especially buses and taxis, and improving road networks.

Shakri explained that the new paths plan implemented by the Authority aims to raise the total paths in Dubai from seven kilometers currently to 20 kilometers by the end of 2026, pointing out that these paths will include many areas within the emirate through an integrated network, represented by: Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Street. , 2nd of December, Al-Satwa, Al-Nahda, Omar bin Al-Khattab, and Nayef.

He added: “The project for bus and taxi routes aims to reduce travel time, increase compliance with bus timetables, and encourage community members to use public transportation.”

He stated that the expansion of private bus routes contributes to reducing the travel time of bus lines on the designated routes during peak hours by a rate ranging between 24 and 59%, and improving the expected arrival time of buses used on the designated routes by a rate ranging between 28 and 56%, as the trip time for buses on the designated routes is expected to decrease. Naif Street by 59%, Al Satwa Street by 54%, Omar Bin Al Khattab Street by 50%, and Al Nahda Street by 38%, while it is expected that time will improve. Bus arrivals on December 2nd Street reached a rate of 56%, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Street reached a rate of 52%, Satwa Street reached 48%, and Omar Bin Al-Khattab Street reached 42%.
