المملكة: 15,000 square metres. Rubber asphalt is a new innovation that provides comfort to pilgrims’ feet

The General Authority for Roads revealed its innovative project to use “rubber asphalt” recycled from used tires in the pedestrian areas of Muzdalifah and Arafat, as part of its development efforts to serve pilgrims during the Hajj season 1445 AH.
This innovation aims to provide an easier and more comfortable Hajj experience, especially for the elderly, as the rubber asphalt reduces pressure on the feet and absorbs vibrations, facilitating the process of moving between the holy sites.
The General Authority for Roads confirmed that this technology is an important step in enhancing environmental sustainability, as it relies on recycling used tires in a way that contributes to reducing environmental waste and improving the infrastructure of pedestrian walkways, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The project covered a total area of 15,000 square meters, distributed between Muzdalifah and Arafat, to be added to the series of innovations that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia seeks to implement during the Hajj season, to achieve a balance between providing high-quality services to the pilgrims and preserving the environment.
