Targeting 115 entities.. America expands sanctions on Russia

The US Treasury Department said on Wednesday that it is expanding the sanctions network on companies and institutions that support Russian war efforts in Ukraine, as it re-listed about 100 entities on the sanctions list, and imposed sanctions against 15 new entities.
A senior Treasury Department official said, on condition of anonymity, that any company conducting serious business transactions with sectors within the Russian military industry would face the risk of being exposed to sanctions.

New penalties

The official added that removing the sanctions would require notification from Congress, and this step could make it more difficult for the Republican administration of President-elect Donald Trump to amend the sanctions without public scrutiny.
The official pointed out that new sanctions were imposed on 15 companies linked to Russia and China that worked together to avoid the imposed sanctions.
