International cooperation to enhance health services for 8 million people in Sudan

The World Bank, the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) signed an agreement worth US$82 million to improve access to basic health services for more than 8 million vulnerable people across Sudan and strengthen the country’s health system.
The organizations stated in a joint statement, according to the Ethiopian News Agency, that the funding will address urgent health needs and lay the foundation for long-term improvements.

The funding will be used to provide essential medicines and train health workers, provide maternal, newborn and child health, nutrition and acute malnutrition services, strengthen vaccination campaigns and reach out to at-risk children and families in displaced and host communities.
