A partnership to accelerate the growth of the climate technology system in the country

The “Next Generation Foreign Direct Investment” initiative of the Ministry of Economy has concluded a partnership agreement with Climate First, a leading European company investing in climate innovation, to enhance the climate technology ecosystem in the UAE.
In implementation of this partnership, which will open the door for the “Climate First” portfolio of companies to benefit from communication and expansion opportunities in the UAE, “Climate First” implemented its first promotional campaigns in the country, in partnership with the Ministry of Economy, during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025.
The campaign saw five leading climate technology companies – Climeworks, Energy Dome, ZeroAviva, Cylib and Glasspoint – participate in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week to explore opportunities for establishing high-impact strategic partnerships with major stakeholders in the UAE who support the decarbonization process in the UAE.
The five companies are developing innovative and advanced solutions in key industries, from direct air capture and battery recycling to hydrogen-electric aviation and solar generators for industrial processes.
Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, welcomed the promising partnership between the Next Generation Foreign Direct Investment Initiative and Climate First, stressing the importance of climate technology in advancing sustainable development.
He said: “This partnership reflects the UAE’s firm commitment to innovation and sustainability. Through the Next Generation Foreign Direct Investment Initiative, we are working to create a supportive system for advanced technology companies to flourish and lead global efforts in confronting climate challenges. The Climate First partnership with the Next Generation Investment Initiative “For direct foreign investments, this is an important opportunity to enhance cooperation that helps shape the future of clean energy and decarbonization in the industrial sector.”
Climate First, which invests in more than 50 leading climate technology companies globally, considers the UAE an ideal partner to expand the impact of its companies, market opportunities and enhance its presence throughout the region.

The event brings together global leaders, innovators and stakeholders to address the world’s most pressing environmental challenges. The partnership between the Next Generation FDI Initiative and Climate First is also in line with Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week’s mission to enhance cooperation and provide actionable solutions for a more sustainable future.
The Next Generation Foreign Direct Investment Initiative, launched in 2022, is a key pillar of the UAE’s efforts to diversify its economy and consolidate its position as a global center for innovation. To date, the program has welcomed more than 20 companies working in future-focused sectors such as artificial intelligence, renewable energy, robotics and advanced manufacturing, helping to accelerate the UAE’s transition to a sustainable, knowledge-based economy.
