"Ministry of Economy" Launches a new digital platform to display prices of basic commodities and enhance consumer awareness

Abu Dhabi, April 19 / WAM / The Ministry of Economy and Tourism announced the “launch of the main commodity prices platform”, which is an innovative digital platform that aims to enhance consumer awareness of smart shopping methods, and provide complete transparency about the prices of goods and products listed on the platform.

In its first phase, it includes 33 goods, divided into 17 basic consumer goods and 16 other main goods, and their prices are monitored in real time from 12 major outlets in the country, with the minimum and maximum prices published in each outlet, which enables the consumer to easily compare prices between the various branches.
The platform also includes smart features that allow the consumer to create a customized food basket according to his needs, and automatically direct him towards the most economical option in terms of price. These features help enhance transparency and achieve optimal use of the consumer’s financial resources.

In detail, the Ministry updates commodity price data on the platform daily to ensure accurate monitoring of market movement, and the platform is provided with this data via direct electronic linkage with its associated sales outlets, as these outlets share prices electronically and automatically with the Ministry’s database.
Among the most prominent basic consumer commodities covered by the platform are cooking oils, eggs, dairy, rice, sugar, poultry, meat, fish, legumes, bread, wheat, water, fruits such as bananas, oranges and apples, and vegetables such as cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, garlic and onions, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the most consumed commodities and accurate monitoring of market movement.
