The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research confirmed the intention of many universities to provide scholarships to athletes with the aim of motivating them to pursue the development of their sporting talents while continuing their university education, and focusing on the importance of the role of talent scouts and attracting sporting talents from the school stage to be nominated to benefit from these scholarships.

The Ministry stressed the importance of developing university sports by providing flexibility to academic students, organizing awareness and marketing campaigns to enhance the importance of university sports, and providing incentives for participation that include scholarships, considering tournaments as part of university evaluation, and exempting from tuition fees, noting that providing sports scholarships to enroll in study missions outside the country for young people. The Department of Education and Knowledge – Abu Dhabi launched the first sports scholarship program of its kind for Emirati students in grades nine to eleven, which allows them to join the elite sports programs and academies in the world, based on the importance of sports education in preparing local competencies qualified to excel academically and athletically.

The American University of Sharjah launched the Rashid Bin Humaid Sports Scholarship Fund, which is the first sports scholarship in the university’s history that reflects its firm commitment to supporting the academic and sporting excellence of its students. The scholarship aims to establish a fund worth five million dirhams to support students with distinguished sports skills and academic excellence, and to overcome any challenges. Abu Dhabi University allows undergraduate students to apply for a sports scholarship after completing one semester at Abu Dhabi University if they are part of a sports team at Abu Dhabi University, with the need to submit a recommendation from the coach, and the student’s GPA must be 2.75 or higher, with terms and conditions applied.

The Emirates National Schools implements a scholarship program for academically distinguished and gifted male and female students.
