DUBAI, January 20 / WAM / The Ministry of Health and Community Protection launched a campaign in cooperation between the “Hayat” Organ Donation and Transplantation Program and blood banks in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, with the aim of harmonizing organ and blood donation efforts in accordance with international best practice guidelines, at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Dubai. This is within the framework of enhancing the country’s leadership in the field of integrated and sustainable health services, in accordance with the objectives of the “We are the Emirates 2031” vision.

The campaign aims to increase organ donation rates through integration between two leading systems in the field of sustainable health. Represented in organ donation and blood donation, to establish a culture of community giving to improve quality of life indicators by developing a sustainable health system, and to consolidate the country’s position as a global model in the field of organ donation and transplantation.

This initiative comes within an integrated plan that includes applying the best international practices in the field of organ donation, capacity building and exchanging experiences among medical personnel, in addition to developing innovative awareness programs targeting various segments of society, and strengthening partnerships with health and academic institutions.

His Excellency Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Health Regulation Sector, confirmed in his speech during the campaign launch ceremony that the successive successes achieved by the “Hayat” program were the result of continuous efforts and exceptional integration between the federal and local health and academic sectors, noting that this innovative campaign comes to link the leadership of… The state in the field of blood donation and achieving self-sufficiency, and the “Hayat” organ donation program, which has witnessed development and distinction.

He explained that the initiative extends to include a comprehensive vision aimed at enhancing community awareness of the importance of organ and blood donation as a noble humanitarian work, establishing a culture of a healthy lifestyle and preventing chronic diseases, and developing an integrated system that complies with the highest international standards in the field of donation and organ transplantation, noting that this campaign represents A distinguished milestone in the journey of the “Hayat” program and reinforces the successes achieved in this ambitious program, in which the number of people registered so far has reached 30,388, which supports sustainability efforts in the health sector.

For his part, Dr. Ali Al-Obaidli, Chairman of the National Committee for Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues, stressed that the success of the “Hayat” program is reflected in the increase in organ donation operations, within the framework of integrated efforts and in a way that confirms the country’s position and the remarkable achievements it has achieved that consolidate the UAE’s leadership in the field of organ transplantation. Pointing out that the program has achieved outstanding success in promoting community solidarity and enabling patients in need of organ transplants to regain hope for a new life.

He added that this initiative comes within the country’s directions to be a model to be emulated at the regional and global levels, as this was achieved thanks to the government’s continuous efforts to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation as a noble humanitarian act, and the capabilities and capabilities that the UAE abounds with, in terms of medical personnel, health facilities and infrastructure. The event witnessed a visual presentation on the achievements of blood banks in the UAE, displaying inspiring personal experiences from the families of donors and recipients of organ transplants, in addition to honoring the blood banks participating in the initiative in appreciation of their health and humanitarian role.
