The Gulf Customs Union Authority participates in the World Customs Organization Exhibition 2026

ABU DHABI, 29 JANUARY / WAM / The Customs Union Authority of the Gulf Cooperation Council participates in the activities of the World Customs Organization Technology Exhibition 2026, which is hosted by Abu Dhabi and brings together representatives of customs departments and relevant authorities from various countries of the world to learn about the latest technical solutions in customs work.
The Authority’s participation in this international event comes within the framework of the efforts of the GCC countries to enhance customs integration and coordinate policies and procedures among member states, in addition to exchanging expertise and experiences in the fields of technical development and facilitating cross-border trade.
His Excellency Dr. Sulaiman Al-Ghafri, Executive Director of the Authority, confirmed to the Emirates News Agency that the UAE’s hosting of the World Customs Organization exhibition reflects the country’s position and role in organizing global events specialized in this regard in cooperation with the World Customs Organization.
He described the event as an important platform through which specialists in the fields of customs work become acquainted with the latest technologies used in this sector and exchange experiences between the participating customs authorities.
He pointed out that the Authority is one of the bodies affiliated with the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and is concerned with completing the requirements of the Customs Union and strengthening the joint customs work system.
He added that the authority’s participation in the conference comes within the framework of its efforts to introduce its role and tasks, pointing out that the authority was established in accordance with the decision of the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council in 2021, and is working to enhance customs integration among member states.
He noted that among the Authority’s most prominent tasks is simplifying and facilitating procedures for the movement of goods between GCC countries, enhancing cooperation and coordination between customs administrations, in addition to supporting digital transformation projects.
