In the drawer of the Oval Office.. a farewell letter from Biden to Trump

In a tradition followed by American presidents since the era of Ronald Reagan in 1989, outgoing US President Joe Biden left a written message for his successor in the drawer of the Oval Office in the White House, before leaving the inauguration ceremony.

President Donald Trump found a farewell letter from his predecessor Biden in a desk drawer, after a journalist reminded him to look for it.

While signing a series of executive orders, a reporter asked the president if Biden had written to him, prompting Trump to check the desk drawers.

“Maybe, wait,” he said. Indeed, he found the letter and held it up to reveal that it was addressed to the number “47,” indicating his position as the 47th president.

“Maybe we should all read it together,” he said before putting it aside, only to repeat and say that he would read it himself before sharing it publicly.

Then he thanked the journalist Peter, who directed the question to him, saying: “Thank you, Peter. Perhaps it would have been months before I found her.”
