The Israeli army begins a military operation in Jenin in the West Bank

The Israeli army announced on Tuesday the start of a military operation in the city of Jenin in the northern occupied West Bank, while the Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed that one person had been killed.

The Israeli army said in a brief statement, “The IDF, the Shin Bet (the internal intelligence service), and the Border Guard launched a military campaign to thwart activities in Jenin.”

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that “a martyr arrived at Jenin Governmental Hospital as a result of the occupation’s bombing of Jenin.”

She indicated in a later statement that “four cases of moderate condition had been reported.”

An Agence France-Presse correspondent monitored the withdrawal of Palestinian security forces from the sites where they had been stationed around the camp during the operation they began in December with the aim of pursuing “outlaws.”

According to the reporter, sounds of explosions and gunfire were heard inside the camp.
