Walls said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM: The task of leading the UAE cycling team is of great importance, especially since it is a distinguished team and has wonderful elements at various age levels, and behind it is a federation that is working with all its might to put it on the podium. The past period was sufficient to demonstrate this, but we also face a great challenge in order to maintain this position, raise the level, stand on the podium, and discover promising talents to be part of this distinguished group with their colleagues.”
Regarding his motivations for accepting the leadership of the cycling teams, he said: “I did not hesitate to agree to work with the Emirates Cycling Federation. I know the extent of the passion that leads everyone towards success, and I decided to be one of those responsible for it in the coming period. In addition, I know the extent of the development of cycling in the Emirates in terms of structure.” Qualified infrastructure and facilities.
Regarding preparing the players in the process of qualifying for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, Richard Walls stressed that qualifying for the Olympics is a primary goal for him, and that there is a strategic plan of action with the federation in order to achieve this in light of the presence of this group of distinguished players.
