"Ministry of Health" Promotes awareness about the importance of organ donation

Dubai, January 22 / WAM / The Ministry of Health and Community Protection organized an introductory meeting about the National Program for Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues “Hayat” with employees of the Ministry of Economy, within the framework of strengthening cooperation between the Ministry and government institutions to spread awareness about the importance of organ donation and its vital role in saving lives. Organic deficiency patients, as part of a series of awareness initiatives targeting various government sectors, which supports efforts aimed at improving the quality of life and improving the level of public health.

The workshop, which was held at the office of the Ministry of Economy in Dubai, was attended by His Excellency Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Health Regulation Sector at the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, His Excellency Badriya Al-Maidour, Assistant Undersecretary for the Support Services Sector at the Ministry of Economy, and Dr. Ali Al-Obaidli, Chairman of the National Committee for Donation and Organ Transplantation. and human tissues, along with an elite group of experts and specialists in the field of organ transplantation.

Inspiring success stories of organ transplant operations conducted in the country were reviewed, in addition to educating employees on ways to register in the “Hayat” program for organ donation, and the categories that meet the conditions, which contributes to increasing the number of those registered in the program, and spreading the culture of organ donation as a noble humanitarian decision. His Excellency Dr. Amin Al Amiri stressed that organizing such introductory workshops is an important step towards enhancing the culture of organ donation in society, noting that the UAE has achieved distinguished progress in the field of organ transplantation over the past years, which reflects the government’s aspirations to provide integrated health care to members of society.

He explained that continuous awareness of the importance of organ donation is an essential part of the national efforts made to increase the number of donors and provide organs to patients suffering from life-threatening diseases, pointing out that organ transfers and transplants are constantly increasing, as their number has exceeded 958 operations so far.

For his part, Dr. Ali Al-Obaidli said that the UAE is developing appropriate plans to increase organ donation cases, sharing information, experience and technologies locally and globally, and setting standards to support human organ and tissue donation, as well as developing a mechanism to register the desire to donate after death in a simple and quick manner, which is what It contributed to the number of those wishing to donate registered in the Hayat program exceeding 30,000 people, which reflects the growing awareness in society of the importance of this humanitarian initiative.

The workshop included a detailed presentation about the “Hayat” program, in addition to a review of the ethical and legal dimensions of donating human organs and tissues, to save the lives of patients. Certificates were also presented for donors inside the country and patients who received organs, in addition to the laws and legislation regulating organ donation in the Emirates, and local and international partnerships in This field.
