urgent.. " Reach him " He is 87 years old

Today, Wednesday, is the 87th anniversary of the birth of the singer Maher Al-Attar, who was born on January 22, 1938 in Bab Al-Shaareya in Cairo Governorate, and who became famous in the sixties and seventies for singing folk songs. 

 

He graduated from the Faculty of Commerce, Ain Shams University in 1965, and also obtained a music institute certificate Arabic.

 

He began his artistic career while studying in the first band, where he sang on the amateur radio program, and by chance, musician Mohamed Abdel Wahab heard him and asked to hear him face to face. 

Maher Al-Attar participated in the Adwaa Al-Madina concerts and presented a group of songs that received a great response from the audience. He collaborated with major composers, most notably Muhammad Al-Muji and Baligh Hamdi. He had a special imprint and presented With "wave" The song "Belghou" Which was on the same scale as "they wronged him" by the Brown Nightingale, and it achieved great success at the time, which made Abdel Halim Hafez ask him to turn to the folk style, and leave him the romantic and sad line, and in fact he turned to it, following the advice of the Brown Nightingale, and he became famous for singing the folk style, and one of his most famous songs is " Reach it, My heart has moved, Spread your handkerchief on the sand, Who believes in you, Who is the rose of the gardens, My moon is me, and God is the guardian. 

He also participated in a group of films, including: " Beware of love, love, deprivation, sea girls, and meeting strangers. He also participated in some plays. At the height of his success, he was occupied with job positions that took him away from the world of singing, where he worked at the Ministry of Culture and later became an advisor to the Minister of Culture. He also became involved in political work, where he was a member of the local council of Cairo Governorate.

 

He also held union positions in the Musicians Syndicate more than once, which forced him to apologize for many of the concerts that were offered to him outside Egypt. And inside it.

 

Attar was honored at the Arab Music Festival, in its 29th session, at the Cairo Opera House in 2020, and his son Ahmed received the award on his behalf.

The singer married Maher Al-Attar and Mrs. Fayza – the media researcher. They had Ahmed, who continued his father’s singing career, then Reham, who worked for a period in the field of tourist guidance and also worked as a broadcaster.

Maher passed away. Al-Attar died on May 3, 2021, at the age of 83, leaving a legacy of art and creativity to his fans.
