US unemployment claims rose slightly last week

Applications for unemployment benefits for the first time in America recorded a slight increase last week, reaching their highest levels in more than 3 years.
The US Department of Labor stated that the number of applications for unemployment aid rose during the week ending January 18 by 6,000 applications to 223,000 applications, while analysts had expected the number to reach only 219,000 applications.

At the same time, the number of people receiving continuous unemployment benefits in the United States increased during the week ending January 11 by 46,000 applications to 1.9 million applications, which is its highest level since November 2021.
