She explained that the cumulative total of applications approved for citizens and citizens recovered the value -added tax that they paid for building their newly constructed housing amounted 2023 amounted to more than 27 thousand requests, with a total value of more than 2.2 billion dirhams, an annual increase of 27.52% in the number of approved applications, and 32% in the value of the recovered amounts.
The number of applications approved during the year 2024 to recover the paid tax on building the new citizens ’housing is 7520 requests with a total value of 704.38 million dirhams.
The number of applications approved to recover the tax paid for building the new citizens’ housing increased from 270 requests at a value of 9.11 million dirhams in 2018 to 1900 requests during 2019 with a total value of 121.46 million dirhams, then it reached 3750 requests of 301.35 million dirhams during 2020, and the number Applications approved in 2021 about 5,990 applications worth 467.52 million dirhams, and 7170 requests worth 583.38 million dirhams during 2022 and about 8,250 requests with a total value of 720.12 million dirhams in 2023.
The authority explained that the electronic retail base associated with the system witnessed a remarkable expansion throughout the country during the past years. As the number of outlets registered with the authority, which is linked to the system, rose to 17 thousand and 847 stores by the end of 2024 opposite 16 thousand and 357 stores by the end of 2023, an increase of more than 9% during the past year; Where the system was linked to 1490 new commercial outlets during 2024, after it was linked in the previous year 1518 outlets, to be the total number of sales outlets that joined the digital system to return the tax for tourists during the past two years 3008 outlets.
The authority affirmed its keenness to expand the deployment of self -service devices through which the tax return procedures for tourists are implemented when they leave the state in an automated manner in almost two minutes for each transaction, pointing to the availability of these devices in many major commercial centers “malls” and hotels, in addition to ports The tourists leave for the state, noting that the number of self -service devices to return the tax for tourists increased to 97 devices by the end of 2024 opposite 82 devices by the end of 2023, an increase of 18.3%, where 15 new devices were added during 2024.
His Excellency Khaled Ali Al -Bustani, Director General of the Federal Tax Authority, said that the authority pays great attention to the continuous development and modernization of its digital systems in accordance with best practices, in line with the state’s strategy for digital transformation, and that the indicators that its efforts were positively reflected on the quality and performance of its services in general, including digital systems To return the value -added tax for the legally qualified groups for this, pointing out that the tax recovery service for building new housing for citizens and the tax return service for tourists witnessed successive updates during the past years by introducing more facilities to simplify and accelerate procedures with digital mechanisms characterized by clarity, transparency and smoothness.
He added that in 2025 the authority will continue to launch and implement various projects and initiatives in the field of digital transformation in the tax sector to keep pace with the government’s strategy for the smart transformation of all services, depending on smooth and proactive digital procedures, in order to support the efforts of the bureaucracy and maintain high levels to delight the customers.
