المملكة: A platform for international companies .. Riyadh hosts the IFAT exhibition and conference for the first time
The hosting announcement came during the signing of the cooperation agreement today, in an official ceremony held in the city of Riyadh, in the presence of the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al -Fadhli.

The agreement was signed by the CEO of the National Center for Waste Management “Muwan” Dr. Abdullah Al -Sibai, and the CEO of Messi Munich Stefan Rommel.
The exhibition will be a platform that brings together the most important international companies and governmental and private agencies working in the waste management and water treatment sector from the Middle East and North Africa region, and aims to exchange experiences and review the latest technologies and innovative methods that serve the environmental sectors.
Dr. Al -Sibai explained that hosting the exhibition comes in line with the goals of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision, which aims to reorganize the waste management sector, increase recycling rates, and find opportunities for local and international investors to build an advanced infrastructure.

He indicated that this event represents a qualitative shift for the waste management sector in the Kingdom, as it provides an opportunity to see best global practices and develop local technologies.
The exhibition is an opportunity to reach the forefront of international efforts in protecting the environment and promoting innovation, and working to benefit from the global platform to support national programs so that the Kingdom becomes a major center for sustainable environmental solutions and innovation.
Stefan Rommel reported that adding the Kingdom as a host country to the IFAT exhibition enhances the global network of the exhibition, which includes 12 successful commercial exhibitions in seven countries.
He pointed out that the Saudi market includes huge potential, looking forward to providing a distinctive version of the IFAT exhibition for the first time in the Middle East, which enhances international cooperation and supports innovation in the environmental technology sector.
A new start for business growth
This partnership represents a new start for international business growth, and the event will be a catalyst for innovation and future achievements.
It is noteworthy that the conference attracts the most important government and private entities and facilities globally, and is a strategic step to expand its impact and support sustainable development plans.
The Kingdom is working through “Mawan” to achieve several ambitious goals that include the separation of 91% of the waste from the source, the preparation of 79% of the waste for recycling, and the transfer of 90% of the waste from the waste dots by 2040.
As for the water sector, seawater desalination will be completed, water networks expanding, and the construction of wastewater and infrastructure treatment stations to meet national needs, while ensuring resource sustainability and enabling environmental protection.
