المملكة: King Abdulaziz Center discusses the importance of privacy in the era of data revolution

The King Abdulaziz Center for Civilization Communication organized the ethnic communication entitled “Privacy between Personal Rights and Data Revolution” in conjunction with the International Day of Privacy, yesterday evening, at its headquarters in Riyadh.
The meeting hosted both the specialist in privacy and the protection of personal data, Mohamed Al -Mutairi, and the expert of governance and organizations, Professor Basma Al -Subaie, and the media meeting was moderated by Najwa Al -Adila.

Privacy and personal data protection

At the beginning of the meeting, Mohamed Al -Mutairi stressed that privacy is a basic right that must be respected, pointing to the protection of personal data, which is known that it is a set of measures that protect the privacy of individuals and their data from unauthorized use.
He stressed that protecting data faces a number of challenges in the era of technical progress and expanding information collection, pointing out that the existing regulations and legislation protects individuals’ data, but these efforts need to educate society with the importance of data protection.
While Basma Al -Subaie dealt with the importance of legislation on protecting personal data, such as the general regulations in protecting personal data, and stressed that there are initiatives, laws and legislation aimed at protecting personal data, in line with similar international legislation, and emphasizes the individual’s right to protect and preserve his privacy.
