Oil fields near .. 20 people were killed in a plane crash in southern Sudan

A plane in northern South Sudan crashed, killing at least 20 people, with a single survivor, according to the Minister of State for Information in Al -Wahda State of Unity, Gatwich Bibl Booth, to Agence France Presse on Wednesday.
The plane crashed near the oil fields in Al -Wahda, at approximately 10:30 local time (08:30 GMT), shortly after taking off to go to the capital, Juba.
“The plane crashed 500 meters from the airport, there were 21 people on board, so far, there is no single survivor,” Booth told France Press.

Mechanical malfunction with the plane

The minister said that the survivor, an engineer from the State of South Sudan, was transferred in the oil field to the Pentio State Hospital.
He added that “the state government feels deeply sorry for this incident,” stressing that an investigation will be opened despite the expectations that the accident is caused by a mechanical malfunction, he said.
The passengers are 16 people from the State of South Sudan, in addition to one Chinese and Indian citizens, according to a list seen by France Press and confirmed by the local authorities.
Pictures transmitted by social media showed the shattered plane on its back in the field while the debris was scattered in the place.

Aircraft crash accidents

The state of South Sudan is witnessing a chronic economic and political crisis and lacks reliable transmission infrastructure, as the accidents of aircraft crash are usually returned to loading loads that exceed their potential or bad weather.
In 2021, five people died after a plane carrying a fuel for the World Food Program crashed near Juba.
In 2017, 37 people miraculously survived after a plane that was carrying them with a firefighter on a runway in the city of Wow survived the fire.
