High inflation in Italy to its highest level in more than a year

The Italian Statistical Office data revealed today, Monday, the high rate of consumer price inflation in Italy, at the beginning of the new year, to its highest level in more than a year.
The Statistical Office stated that the inflation rate recorded last January 1.5% annually, compared to 1.3% during December.

The increase in the increase in the prices of energy products subject to pricing rules by 27.8% after their rise in December by only 12%.
At the same time, the rate of the free rise during the past month decreased to 3% compared to 4.2% during the previous month.
The data also showed the increase in food prices, including alcoholic drinks, by 2%, after their rise in the previous month by 1.7% annually.

Consumer prices in Italy

During the past month, the basic inflation rate that excludes the most volatile goods such as energy and fresh food was 1.8%, the same level in the previous month.
Consumer prices increased during the past month by 0.6%, on a monthly basis, while analysts expected to rise by 0.4%.
According to the unified index of the European Union, the inflation rate in Italy reached 1.7% annually, compared to 1.4% annually in the previous month, while the negative reached 0.7% on a monthly basis.
