A 3.1 -magnitude earthquake hit a city in central South Korea

South Korea’s Meteorological Agency said today that an earthquake measuring 3.1 degrees beating the city of Chongo in the center of the country, early in the day, prompting the government to operate a disaster management body and issue the second highest degree of earthquake.

The agency reported that the earthquake took place in an area 22 km northwest of Chongo, northern Chong Cheung at 2:35 am, and that its center is the town of Angsung in the city at a depth of 9 km.

The Ministry of Interior and Safety said that no material injuries or damage were reported.

The agency had initially estimated the earthquake force at 4.2 degrees, but it adjusted it to 3.1 degrees.

The earthquake of the seven earthquakes that struck the Korean Peninsula this year.

The authorities, shortly after the earthquake, operated the central headquarters to combat disaster and safety and issued an alert level of the earthquake at the “anticipation” level.

The alert system consists of 4 levels: “alert”, “warning”, “anticipation”, and “danger”.

The Acting Minister of the Interior, Ko Ki-Dong, head of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority, ordered the relevant government agencies and regional authorities to maintain the emergency response system and evaluate any damage caused by the last earthquake quickly.

The ministry said that 23 reports were registered from people who said they felt the earthquake, including 13 reports from Ganguun, east of Seoul, and 8 reports from the northern Chong Chyung region.
