“Reading the text” recommends the establishment of a national center for writing the Saudi oral heritage

The text reading forum (21), organized by the Literary Cultural Club in Jeddah, concluded its three -day works from 4 to 6 February 2025, under the title “Literary and Cultural History in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia between oral and written”, where the participants discussed the role of narratives Popular and oral literature in documenting the Saudi cultural heritage.
The forum witnessed the honoring of the writer Mohamed Abdel -Razzaq Al -Qashhai in appreciation of his literary giving, and the participants also issued five main recommendations, foremost of which was the demand to establish a national center for writing the Saudi oral heritage, with the aim of preserving popular narratives, songs, tales, heritage arts, and benefiting from modern technologies in documenting them.

Cultural identity

The participants also recommended the necessity of the forum to continue its pivotal role in supporting academic studies, and encouraging popular narratives as an inherent part of cultural identity, as well as emphasizing the importance of filling the gap between written literature and oral narration through concrete scientific research.
The participants appreciated the support of the wise leadership and the Ministry of Culture of the Literary Movement in the Kingdom, stressing the importance of honoring cultural symbols, enhancing initiatives that contribute to enriching the literary scene, and consolidating the national identity locally and globally.
