416 The number of South Korean airlines planes

Local airlines operated a total of 416 aircraft, including 42 cargo aircraft, until late last year, an increase of 23 aircraft from the previous year.

This represents the highest number of aircraft, since the first private plane was registered in the country in 1977, and this number is expected to rise more this year, as local airlines plans to bring 54 new aircraft and get rid of 38 old aircraft. The number of aircraft in South Korea witnessed a steady rise, as it exceeded the barrier of 300 aircraft in 2015, and reached the previous record of 414 aircraft in 2019, before it decreased in the following year due to the “Kovid-19” pandemic.

According to airlines, Korean Airlines had the largest share of 39.7% of the total, or 165 aircraft; It was followed by ASANA with 83 aircraft, then “Gigo Air” with 41 aircraft, including the plane that crashed into the deadly accident that killed 179 people on December 29.

According to the type of plane, 62%, or 258 aircraft, made by “Boeing”, followed by “Airbus” by 38%, or 158 aircraft.
