Yemeni Minister of Transport: Some international airlines have started operating flights to Aden

Abu Dhabi, February 10 / WAM / His Excellency Dr. Abdel Salam Saleh Hamid, the Yemeni Minister of Transport, said that some international airlines started operating flights to Aden, such as African Express, Djibouti Airlines, and Royal Jordanian lines, pointing to plans to strengthen the Yemeni aviation fleet by adding new aircraft Before the end of this year 2025.
He noted the great support provided by the UAE to the civil aviation sector in Yemen, especially through the rehabilitation of airports in the liberated areas, which contributed directly to the restart of many airports and their return to work normally.
He said in a statement to “WAM” on the sidelines of the “ICAO World Seminar to Support 2025” event that the Emirati support represents one of the main factors that contributed to the revival of the aviation sector in Yemen and noted that the Yemeni government currently has only three planes and is in the process of introducing a fourth plane into a fleet National Aviation next April, in addition to directives to increase the number of aircraft in the fleet to meet the needs of travelers.
He explained that the “ICAO World EcoOs Support 2025” discusses pivotal issues related to the sustainability of global aviation, and the use of artificial intelligence in developing the sector, as well as innovation in the use of neutral fuel that contributes to reducing the environmental impact.
He also explained that three investment companies from the private sector, which are currently under rehabilitation, will work alongside the national carrier “Yemeni Airlines” to strengthen the country’s aviation sector.
With regard to airports, His Excellency explained that the Yemeni government is working to restart internal airports, as a strategic project for aircraft maintenance has been launched, which will contribute to enhancing the ability of the Yemeni aviation sector to face future challenges. He also stressed that Yemen is seeking to develop the national airline to be at its best during the near future.
His Excellency pointed out that the number of airports ready for operation in the liberated areas reached six airports, namely: Aden Airport, Sayyun Airport, Al -Rayyan Airport in Hadramout, Socotra Airport, and Ataq Airport, in addition to the fact that the Mocha Airport in the West Coast is ready to operate soon.
