An imminent deficiency in aid, and the United Nations calls for urgent support for Sudanese refugees

Since the beginning of the Sudanese crisis in 2023, the Central African Republic has hosted an estimated 31,000 people looking for safety and assistance, and last year the number of expatriates increased by about 90 percent.
More than half of the Sudanese refugees live in Fakaja Governorate, one of the poorest governorates in the country and is already dealing with food insecurity on a large scale.
In this context, the representative of the Commission in the Central African Republic, Fava Atdsa, said: “We are witnessing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis that requires immediate and sustainable international support. Refugees need to access basic protection and life -saving protection services – work is crucial now to prevent further suffering.”
Despite the ongoing efforts made by the two international agencies, the government and partners to find sustainable solutions, refugees are still highly dependent on humanitarian aid, while making them insufficient response are vulnerable to the risk of lack of protection, lack of shelter and education and increasing the risk of food insecurity and malnutrition.
In addition, pressure on the already vulnerable host communities is increasing due to pressure on limited resources that were rare before the refugees arrived.
The head of the World Food Program office in the Central African Republic, Allen Samo, said: “Despite our darker resources, we cannot remain indifferent or inactive, especially since these refugees who suffer from food insecurity depend on us while it may sometimes be the only meal they eat in the day. The World Food Program is the savior of these weak families “.
The NBA demanded to provide $ 14.8 million to support the response in 2025. In a joint statement, they said that the current situation will lead to an irreplaceable damage to the refugees, which affects their survival now and their long -term prospects, “It leads to potential conflicts with host societies over scarce resources.”
They invited the international community to mobilize financial support to respond to this crisis effectively and better assist the government of the Central African Republic in managing the situation.
