Al -Ghurair revealed that the most prominent sugar manufacturers in the world are currently planning to create a digital platform based on “Blockchain”, which will contribute to the development and control of the market.

The sessions of the 9th edition of the “Dubai Sugar 2025” conference witnessed wide discussions from more than 900 experts from 78 countries on the global developments of the sugar industry and the challenges taking place in the industry represented in climate change, protectionism and the decline in the crop.

The conference sessions discussed the variables related to the production of India, which announced the achievement of one million tons of exports, and the possibilities of the decline in the crop in Thailand, China and Pakistan this year in addition to the expectations of Brazil’s production of sugar cane, which accounts for 60% of global production and to what extent will all this affect the surplus The great expected.

Discussions reviewed the capabilities of the US administration’s procedures on customs duties on trade flows, confronting producers in the European Union, high costs, low prices and sugar flow from Ukraine.

Jacob Robbins, the director of the “Emterira” company, said that the global sugar industry needs new and flexible perceptions to deal with variables as well as employ technologies and offer new products.

He added, the global sugar industry is still facing difficulties regarding the size of the supply and the state of demand, as well as matters related to health and green products and the use of technology in the industry.
