Dubai International Airport continues the global lead in “scheduled seats”

Dubai International Airport, during February, has registered more than 4.78 million seats scheduled for international flights (9.56 million in both directions), compared to about 4.73 million seats in the same period last year 2024, thus signing the throne of the world airports in the total seat capacity ( International and local trips) by a difference of 214,000 seats, compared to its American counterpart, “Hartfield Atlanta Jackson International Airport”, which came second, according to the monthly report issued by the “OAG” international institution equipped for airport data and airlines.
For the second consecutive month, at the beginning of 2025, Dubai International beats its American counterpart, “Hartfield, Atlanta Jackson International Airport.”
“In February 2025, Dubai International Airport, the most crowded airport in the world, remains 4.8 million seats, an increase of 1% in the capacity compared to February 2024,” the Foundation said, noting that it is important to note the effect of (the leap year) in the comparison aspects with February 2024, and explain that with a comparison of the daily seats of Dubai International Airport for the month of February 2025, last year, registered growth is 5%.
She added that Dubai International Airport surpassed the “Hartfield Atlanta” during February 2025, noting that the American airport came second after Dubai, recording about 4.56 million seats.
The Tokyo International Airport in Japan ranked third with a total seat capacity on international and local flights together during February 2025, recording about 4.2 million seats, followed by the Shanghai Airport with about four million passengers, and “London Heathrow” in fifth place, recording 3.85 million seats.
Dubai International also maintained the center of the largest airport in the world, in terms of seat capacity on international flights only during February, beating “London Heathrow”, which recorded 3.6 million seats in second place, followed by Seoul Airport in third place with about 3.4 million seats. Singapore and Amsterdam in the fourth and fifth places with about 3.3 million seats and 2.9 million seats, each, respectively.
Dubai International Airport laid a new standard in the global aviation sector after receiving 92.3 million passengers in 2024, which is the highest annual traffic movement ever in the history of the airport. This achievement exceeds the previous record of 89.1 million passengers that was achieved in 2018.
Dubai International Airport runs flights to 272 destinations in 107 countries, served by 106 international airlines, and continues to establish new standards as one of the most prominent airports in the world.
