Ras Al Khaimah, February 17/ WAM/ His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, confirmed that science is a basic pillar in building a sustainable and prosperous future in Ras Al Khaimah, the UAE and the world, indicating that the emirate, by organizing a “workshop International advanced materials “annually, its firm commitment to promoting scientific progress and effective contribution to global discussions on advanced materials.
This came during the attendance of His Highness the opening of the 16th session of the workshop, which will be held for three days in the Intercontinental Resort, Ras Al Khaimah, the Arab Port, with the participation of more than 200 scientists, student and specialized in advanced subjects from prominent academic and research institutions around the world.
In his main speech in front of the participants, His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi said: “Our investment in developing advanced materials reflects our vision to build a brighter future for the head of the tent and the whole world, as we believe that scientific discoveries in this field have the ability to bring about radical transformations in vital sectors Like energy, transportation and manufacturing. “
His Highness added: “Science is the essence of knowledge, and the tool that enables us to explore the secrets of the universe and find solutions to the challenges facing human civilization. It is also the main pillar of building a more sustainable future for the head of the tent, the UAE and the world, in light of our belief in the active role that young generations play in our continuous endeavor To acquire knowledge and employ it in the service of humanity. “
A global scientific platform.
This year the workshop attracts more than 200 scientists, speakers and student from all over the world, including Professor Andre Jim, Nobel Prize winner from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, where the activities include giving lectures and holding discussion sessions on the role of advanced materials in drawing future features.
The event is witnessing the presence of a group of scientists from the most prominent international academic institutions, including the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, the University of California and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States of America, in addition to the New South Wales University in Australia.
This year, the workshop received about 400 research posts to consider and display during the events, with the participation of scientists and students from more than 20 countries, including about 100 participants from the UAE, 51 from India, 11 from the United States of America, and 9 from Algeria. The event will also witness 21 lectures by prominent experts, in addition to research contributions made by 5 students over the three days.
Academic cooperation to enhance innovation
In the context of its commitment to encouraging scientific research, the “International Advanced Labor Workshop” is cooperating this year with the Ras Al Khaimah Department for Knowledge and the Academic Center for the University of Bolton in Ras Al Khaimah to organize the “Ras Al Khaimah Challenge for Innovation and Sustainability 2025”, which allows school and university students in the emirate in addition to specialists in Industry, the opportunity to participate in seven competitions aimed at developing innovative solutions for daily challenges, with cash prizes allocated to the winners.
On the third day of the event, a scientific session dedicated to high school students will be organized, in partnership with the Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Foundation for Public Policy Research, where advanced material scientists will visit companies that are based in Ras Al Khaimah, to highlight how to employ advanced materials in improving Industrial production operations. The workshop will also include a special session to review the opportunities available to Ras Al Khaimah companies to cooperate with the Sheikh Saqr Laboratory at the Jawaher Lal Nehru Center for Advanced Scientific Research in India, which bears the name of the late Sheikh Saqr bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, “may God bless him.”
Advanced materials for a sustainable future
The workshop is witnessing this year to host a special session entitled “Articles and its role in sustainable development in the United Arab Emirates”, with the participation of speakers from leading universities in the country, namely: Khalifa University of Science and Technology, United Arab Emirates University, and New York University Abu Dhabi.
Advanced materials include minerals, ceramics and polymers, whether new or developed, as they can be found in mobile phones, electronic devices, compound materials, dyes, power systems, sensors, membranes and others. These materials have a great ability to revolutionize many industrial sectors, such as flying, transportation, construction, and health care, and can contribute to reducing carbon footprint and reducing energy consumption.
