المملكة: It includes 25 thousand sites .. The launch of the first digital platform for water quality control

The National Center for Environmental Commitment has launched a digital national platform for monitoring surface and groundwater quality; It is the first platform of its kind, in which data has been completed more than 25 thousand sites and more than two million readers were recorded in the Kingdom’s condition in one year.
The Center announced the completion of the National Initiative for the Supervision of Surface Water and Electrical Water to register and collect the necessary data on a national platform, through which the level of protection and quality of water sources in the Kingdom can be raised.
The potential risk matrix of water pollution in the entire region was determined, and how the importance of each source and how to monitor it, in addition to studying water quality elements for various uses, environmental sensitivity to groundwater, and other indicators that will be monitored according to the highest international standards.

Water resources in Saudi Arabia

The initiators said during a workshop held in Riyadh yesterday, that the center has worked with the various competent authorities to build a basic water control line since last June, and the work ended with providing data dating back to 53 years from various sources, which will enable people with competence in government agencies And researchers, from reading data and determining the priorities of immediate control and pollution sources, if any, and its protection.
The Executive Director of the Monitoring Department of the National Center for Environmental Commitment Engineer Anwar Al -Nahdi said that the platform will develop policies based on scientific foundations that support decision -makers in order to enhance the sustainability of water resources in the Kingdom.

Geological Survey Authority

Al -Nahdi pointed out that the launch of the platform and the provision of the database with it came the fruit of joint efforts with the Geological Survey Authority, the Water Agency at the Ministry of Environment, the Irrigation Authority, and the National Water Company, where the center was keen to coordinate between the relevant authorities, and to develop accurate strategies to collect and analyze data Field.
In turn, Eng. Ahmed Hab Al -Reeh, the owner of the initiative, pointed out that the project is a first step towards a comprehensive digital transformation in surface water control, and will develop and feed on information, in order to enhance the ability and efficiency in data analysis and take appropriate measures to protect surface and underground water in the Kingdom.
