85 million hotel nights in the Emirates during the first 10 months of 2024

Abu Dhabi, February 18/ WAM/ His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri, Minister of Economy, Chairman of the Emirates Tourism Council, said that the total number of guests of hotel establishments in the Emirates reached approximately 24.9 million inmates during the first ten months of 2024, achieving 9.5% growth The same period in 2023, while the total number of hotel nights reached about 85 million nights, with a growth rate of 8%, and the number of hotel establishments in the country increased to 1246 facilities at the end of last October, recording 2% growth compared to the first ten months of 2023.

This came during the first meeting of the “Consultative Council for Hospitality”, which was held today headed by His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri, and in the presence of 16 presidents and executives of a group of national and international hotels.

The Council discussed new mechanisms to support the growth of the hospitality sector in the country during the current year, and increase the UAE’s attractiveness to local and international visitors, as well as attracting more local and foreign investments in the tourism sector.

Plans to provide tourism training programs aimed at providing more job opportunities for Emirati youth in this vital sector.

His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri stressed that the Emirates Tourism Council continues its vital role in developing the hospitality sector, relying on international best practices, and supporting the achievement of the “National Tourism Strategy 2031”, by launching more initiatives and tourism projects that enhance the UAE’s position as a global tourist destination Pioneer at the regional and international levels.

The meeting witnessed the discussion of a group of innovative tourism initiatives that the UAE can provide during its participation as a guest in the work of the G20 for the year 2025, which will be held in South Africa.

These initiatives focus on enhancing tourism sustainability, reducing carbon emissions, and localizing advanced technology in various sectors and tourism activities.

The Council also discussed marketing strategies to support the promotion of the “Great Tourist Paths” project, which aims to unify the experience of traveling between the seven emirates, highlighting the rich cultural diversity of the state, and motivating visitors to explore destinations and tourist attractions that make the UAE a global destination.

The meeting touched on the possibility of launching a new tourism training program under the name “Summer Hospitality Camps”, which aims to enhance resettlement in the tourism sector, involve young people in tourism professions, develop local workforce skills in the areas of hospitality, provide them with the necessary practical experiences, and raise awareness of the importance of tourism contribution In support of the national economy.

The program will be available to students who are 16 years old and over, which provides them with an opportunity to gain direct practical experiences in the hospitality sector.
