US -European talks to solve the crisis of customs duties

Hoping to prevent a possible trade dispute with the United States, a high -ranking official of the European Union stressed the importance of active and fair communication in trade during his meeting with US President Donald’s administration officials for 4 hours.
“The ultimate goal, as it was presented to us yesterday by American partners, is the reciprocity.”
It is noteworthy that Sivkovic met yesterday with US Trade Minister Howard Lootnick and White House’s economic advisor Kevin Haysit and Jameson Jarir, who was nominated by President Trump for the position of American commercial actor.

Customs

President Trump delivered contracts for the economic partnership between the United States and Europe in the chaos, to pledge to impose higher fees on his country’s imports from Europe, which he said would agree with the fees facing American products in European markets.
But Trump’s fair customs duties plan will also include value -added tax – which is similar to sales tax – imposed in Europe that may lead to a significant increase in American fees on European products and may lead to a broader trade conflict if the European Union imposes reprisals.
At the same time, the outbreak of a wider trade war threatens to slow down the American economy and high inflation, which could create financial challenges for millions of American families and may harm Trump’s political support, as voters in the 2024 elections wanted specifically to reduce price pressure on them.
In his conversation with White House officials, the European Commissioner tried to make the value -added tax similar to the sales tax paid by the final consumer, but he said that the case was not resolved.
