This comes within the framework of the Ministry’s efforts to enhance the intellectual property system in the country, and to support the owners of small and medium enterprises to enable them to build trademarks capable of expanding and reaching global markets.

The forum witnessed a wide participation of entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium enterprises, and a number of them showed their inspiring success stories in building strong local trademarks that were able to expand internationally.

The participants discussed ways to enhance awareness of the importance of registering brands to protect them from illegal tradition and exploitation, by benefiting from the registration and protection services provided by the Ministry of Economy in this field.

His Excellency Abdullah Ahmed Al Saleh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, explained that the Forum for Empowerment of Trademarks reflects the commitment of the UAE to consolidate a supportive environment for innovation and strengthening the intellectual property system, which contributes to supporting entrepreneurship and empowering national brands to expand and reach global markets, noting that growth Continuous registration of trademarks in the country reflects the confidence of entrepreneurs and investors in the economic environment of the UAE, which provides an advanced legislative framework. And advanced digital services to protect intellectual property rights and enhance the competitiveness of Emirati brands at the international level.

Al Saleh added that the ministry pays great attention to enhancing the competitiveness of national brands, and providing an integrated system of supportive initiatives and policies, to take care and increase it such as joining the Madrid protocol, which opened new horizons for brand owners to register internationally and easily, in addition to the “One Day sign initiative And that contributes to accelerating registration operations and enhancing the digital transformation of services, and the ministry also continues its efforts in Organizing awareness campaigns and specialized workshops to raise awareness of the importance of protecting brands as an essential element in building the identity of companies and enhancing consumer confidence in them, which supports the sustainability and growth of the business sector in the country.

He stressed that the ministry continues to develop an environment that supports innovation and intellectual property in line with the vision of the wise leadership to enhance the position of the UAE, one of the most competitive economies in the world, stressing the importance of partnership between the government and private sectors to support national brands and motivate them to expand and grow in regional and global markets.

For his part, His Excellency Dr. Abdul Rahman Hassan Al -Moaini, Assistant Undersecretary for the Intellectual Property Sector at the Ministry of Economy, stressed that the progress made by the UAE in the field of intellectual property reflects the vision of our wise leadership in building a diverse and sustainable knowledge economy, indicating at the same time that the Ministry of Economy will continue to work On opening new horizons for owners of ideas and innovations from entrepreneurs to register their brands in a manner that supports their competitiveness locally and regionally And globally.

Al -Muaini reviewed during his speech the latest statistics related to the registration of trademarks in the country and announced that the number of requests for registration of national and international brands during the year 2024 reached 33 thousand and 852 demands of 8.23% compared to 2023, which reflects a remarkable growth in the demand for brands protection, in When the number of applications registered from the beginning of 2020 until the end of 2024 reached 135 thousand and 932 requests.

The forum included specialized dialogue sessions that dealt with mechanisms for empowering small and medium -sized companies by raising brands, and global brand building strategies from the local market.

The forum allowed the identification of legal consulting services in the “Clinic” intellectual property provided by the International Association for Intellectual Property Rights for owners of small and medium enterprises, and helping them to protect their intellectual assets and expand their spread globally.

Participants in the forum stressed the importance of registering and protecting brands as an essential part of the corporate identity and their ability to expand and succeed in foreign markets, stressing the need to benefit from the facilities provided by the state to enhance the presence of Emirati marks in global markets and pointed to the “Intestopia” brand success, which was The first local brand moves from local registration to international registration via the Madrid protocol, which reflects the great potential provided by a state Emirates for entrepreneurs and project owners.
