"Ajman Municipality"… innovative initiatives to consolidate sustainability and environmental protection
Ajman on March 2/ WAM/ The Municipal Department of Planning and Planning in Ajman strengthened its efforts to consolidate the principles of sustainability and preserving the environment through many leading initiatives and solutions that guarantee the protection of natural resources, the promotion of biological diversity, and the spread of environmentally friendly practices, in line with the national pillars concerned with reaching climate neutrality by 2051.
The department cut advanced stages in the field of environmental protection, promoting sustainability and support through innovation, by implementing integrated waste management initiatives, improving air quality, maintaining environmental reserves and biological diversity, and enhancing the benefit of renewable energy.
His Excellency Abdul Rahman Muhammad Al -Nuaimi, Director General of the Municipal Department and Planning in Ajman, said that the department has taken strenuous steps to protect the environment by setting legislation and environmental policies, and organizing inspection campaigns to ensure the commitment of establishments to environmental standards, and periodically monitoring air and water quality using the latest technology.
He added in a statement to the Emirates News Agency “WAM”, that the department organizes a set of programs with the aim of encouraging community members to adopt sustainable environmental practices, such as waste recycling, expanding the scope of cultivation of Crimea, and attaches special importance to improving air quality in the emirate; Where it has established an integrated air quality monitoring network whose stations are distributed in the regions of the emirate, such as Musfout and Manama, in order to ensure a healthy environment for the population, and industrial facilities were obligated to install environmental monitoring stations working around the clock to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
He explained that the department launched, in cooperation with the concerned authorities, the initiative of carbon neutrality, which aims to enhance the leadership of the emirate in reducing emissions, and that the initiative is planned that the initiative will adopt an exclusive environmental sign that supports the various sectors to achieve carbon neutrality and enhance the green and circular economy in partnership with the relevant United Nations institutions.
He pointed out that the initiative aims to evaluate the carbon footprint of industrial facilities, followed by the expansion of the application to include transportation and government sectors in the future.
He touched on the “Environmental IQ Laboratory” project, which allows a vehicle equipped with advanced monitoring devices, immediately analyzing environmental data using artificial intelligence, and supports smart cities plans by providing an integrated electronic control system, determining the sources of pollution and providing immediate reports on air and water quality, which contributes to the speed of taking corrective measures.
He explained that the project contributed to reducing environmental complaints by 40% and controlling environmental violations with high efficiency, in addition to conducting more than 170 scout sorties to ensure environmental compliance.
In the same context, the Director General of the Municipal Department and Planning in Ajman stressed that the department continues to develop innovative environmental initiatives, such as the “Smart sensing” project, which helps in predicting environmental risks before it occurs and taking appropriate pre -emptive measures to improve environmental sustainability.
He pointed to the efforts of the Municipal Department and Planning in Ajman in monitoring pollution and emissions, including conducting an environmental survey of industrial facilities, while obliging it to provide periodic reports on the levels of pollution and emissions, in addition to increasing monitoring stations throughout the emirate, which reflects Ajman’s commitment to achieving environmental sustainability and improving the quality of life for its inhabitants.
