A partnership for the issuance of “Jeon -Visa” cards in the Emirates

Al -Ittihad Payments Company, which is affiliated with the Central Bank, in its capacity as the UASWITCH electronic operator, which is responsible for managing the local system of payment cards “Gene”, and “Visa”, announced the signing of a partnership agreement to launch debit cards and advance multi -system advances “VISA – Jaywan” in the UAE.
A statement, issued yesterday, stated that the two companies intend to cooperate with financial institutions, modern financial technology companies and local commercial partners, to provide multi -system cards to customers, including a set of benefits and services with added value that meet the needs of the market.
The new cards will carry the logo of “VISA – Jaywan”, allowing their bearer to continue the safe payments within the country, in addition to more than 150 million of the “Visa” trading partners in more than 200 different countries and region, whether during their presence abroad or on online shopping.
Under this partnership, local payment transactions will be addressed through the UAE electronic division, while the completed transactions outside the Gulf Cooperation Council countries will be processed using the “Visanet” network.
Saif Hamid Al Dhaheri, the UAE Central Bank for Banking Operations and Support Services, said, “(Gene) is a basic step towards strengthening financial infrastructure, supporting economic growth and digital transformation in the UAE, and within the framework of the partnership between the Etihad Payments Company and the (Visa) company, we are working to create a local and safe and effective payment cards system that is in line with The state’s vision of innovation and financial empowerment. ”
For her part, Dr. Saida Jaafar, the regional director of the company “VISA” and the vice president of its operations in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Dr. Saida Jaafar, said that “the partnership between (Union for Payments) and (Visa) confirms our strong support for the UAE’s vision of accelerating the pace of digital transformation and consolidating its pioneering position in terms of innovation and economic growth.”
She added, “Given that cash payments still represent about 30% of payment operations in the UAE, we are looking forward to implementing this partnership and continuing to cooperate with our partners to enhance the advantages of digital payments to include more customers, companies and economics in general.”
She emphasized that the UAE is one of the leading countries in the field of digital transformation, and it has the ability and capabilities to achieve more progress, noting that this partnership confirms the commitment of “Visa” company to provide the best safe, reliable and innovative payment services for multi -system card holders “Viswan – Visa” and the business sector within the country and the world.
