The UAE makes a joint statement before the Human Rights Council on the rights of persons with disabilities
The UAE has made the fifty -eighth session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, with a joint statement made by the UAE on behalf of more than 91 countries, indicated that new and emerging technologies have the ability to serve as strong tools to provide sustainable solutions to global challenges and advance sustainable development goals, and that the “Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities” highlights the necessity of conducting research and strengthening them on new technologies and ensuring access to them.
The statement stressed that the use of technology can enhance the participation and integration of individuals with disabilities in all aspects of life, which helps to create a more comprehensive and sustainable future.
He also explained that auxiliary techniques and tools based on artificial intelligence can significantly enhance learning, work and daily life experiences for persons with disabilities.
He stressed that these innovations also contribute to independence and build self -esteem, in a manner that guarantees people with disabilities to live a full life in a society that respects their rights.
With acknowledging the tremendous capabilities of new technologies, the statement called for the importance of addressing the challenges that these technologies may impose, and the necessity of taking the necessary measures in order to develop international standards to ensure safety, efficiency and fair access to new technologies, which guarantees fully respect for the rights and protection of persons with disabilities.
In conclusion, the UAE affirmed in the joint statement its call to intensify global efforts to integrate these people while renewing the affirmation of the joint commitment to them
