The Ministry of Culture and the Emirates Library Association enhances their joint cooperation

Abu Dhabi, March 13 / WAM / The Ministry of Culture has signed a memo of understanding with the Emirates Library and Information Association aimed at upgrading the reality of the work of libraries and enhancing its active role in enriching the knowledge of all members of society in a way that serves the advancement of cultural reality in the country.

The memo was held yesterday, His Excellency Mubarak Al -Nakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, and His Excellency Fahd Ali Al -Maamari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Library Association.

The two sides will work, according to the memo, to coordinate and implement joint programs in the field of libraries and information that aim to achieve common messages and goals in addition to coordinating the organization of events such as exhibitions, seminars, conferences, workshops, scientific trips, etc., and to provide consultations in the field of developing various libraries and information institutions in the country and activating the presence in regional and international professional bodies specialized in the field of libraries and information in a way that achieves the interests of the state And cooperation in hosting international conferences of these bodies.

The Ministry and the Association will collect and provide reliable data on the reality of the work of library and information institutions in the country and their participation in international projects and coordinate local and international posts in the field of libraries and information of common concern.

During the August 2024, the ministry hosted an official delegation from the association to discuss many important issues related to the development of public and specialized libraries in the country, as the focus was on improving the infrastructure of libraries and developing its digital services. The growing role of libraries was reviewed in promoting the Emirati cultural identity, especially in light of the digital revolution that requires the development of libraries to become modern technical centers that support innovation and scientific research.
