Sharjah University and"Davas Prime" They launched a research project to enhance agriculture in dry areas

Sharjah, March 16 / WAM / Sharjah University and Davas Prime – Middle East for Industrialization signed a intentional agreement aimed at conducting joint applied research projects that focus on improving desert soil properties and increasing their productivity using and developing gluconite metal.

The two sides will improve the efficiency of gluconite minerals as a soil improved in the conditions of the hot and dry desert, by combining it with vital coal and biological stimuli, with the aim of developing sustainable agriculture in the Gulf region, the Middle East and North Africa.

His Excellency Prof. Hamid Mujul Al -Nuaimi, Director of Sharjah University, attended the signing of the agreement between Professor Dr. Muammar Al -Bazib, Deputy Director of the University for Scientific Research and Graduate Studies, and Marina Stroganova, founder and executive head of Davas Prime Middle East for Industrialization, at the university’s headquarters.

Research projects will be implemented in two phases, the first, which include experiments in greenhouses to determine the optimal mixture of gluconite, biological charcoal, and biological stimuli for wheat and lettuce, while the second stage includes field experiments at the wheat farm in Maliha area in Sharjah to verify the effectiveness of these improvements under real cultivation conditions.

It is expected that the results of this research will contribute to improving soil fertility, increasing crop productivity, and enhancing water efficiency, as well as developing a more flexible microbial ecosystem, which contributes to enhancing sustainable agriculture practices in the long -term arid regions.

Dr. Hamid Mujul Al -Nuaimi stressed the importance of the agreement in supporting the university’s efforts for scientific research that addresses urgent regional challenges, especially in the field of sustainable agriculture in light of the desert climatic conditions, describing the project as an important opportunity to employ researchers’ experiences from the university and the private sector to develop sustainable agricultural techniques that suit the local environment and enhance food security in the UAE and the region in general.
