The Ministry of Foreign Affairs participates in an international conference to emphasize a sustainable leadership on the global water crisis

London, March 17 / WAM / His Excellency Abdullah Pallaa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability, participated in a ministerial table held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development in the United Kingdom on “treatment of water security through climate interconnection, nature and development”, with the aim of highlighting the need for urgent collective work and sustainable leadership on the global water crisis.
His Excellency Baroneh Chapman, British Minister of State for International Development, Latin America, and the Caribbean region, chaired this session, which brought together a number of ministers, including ministers from Senegal, Malawi, Morocco, Nigeria, Nepal and Bangladesh, in addition to senior leaders of multilateral institutions and major international organizations, including the European Commission, the International Bank, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the program The United Nations Water, Water Aid Program and the International Water Economy Committee, with the aim of identifying priority areas of cooperation over the next year in order to achieve a systematic transformation in water treatment through climate interconnection, nature and development.
During the session, Saada Ballaa highlighted the UAE’s efforts to prepare for the United Nations Water Conference 2026, where his happiness affirmed that the conference seeks to focus on accelerating the implementation of the sixth goal of sustainable development goals and that “this goal is stimulated and enabled to all the goals of sustainable development and all our global societal, environmental and economic goals.”
According to the ministerial table discussions, the participants agreed to exploit the decisive period during the next year to build and maintain the sustainability of leadership in the field of water, sanitation and hygiene, in a manner that enables to achieve all the goals of sustainable development, and work to build multilateral partnerships to advance developmentable, innovative, and comprehensive solutions for the water crisis, and cooperation with the existing international operations to enhance the integration of water in its international agenda.
His Excellency Al -Ala also participated in a reception hosted by His Majesty King Charles III on water and climate, in cooperation with Water ID, at the Buckingham Palace, where this ministerial participation will be held days after the organizational session of the United Nations Water Conference for the year 2026, which was held on March 3, 2025 at the United Nations headquarters in New York, during which more than 70 participants from member states and concerned authorities submitted their recommendations on topics The six interactive dialogues of the conference.
The main axes are scheduled to be identified during the high -level preparatory meeting that the President of the General Assembly will call on July 9, 2025.
