Refugee Commission: Reducing human financing threatens millions of lives

Grandi said in a statement today, Thursday, that the consequences of reducing financing on fleeing the danger would be “Immediate and destructive.”

He added that women and girls refugee girls are at risk of rape and other forms of abuse are already losing the possibility of access to services that maintain their safety, and that children are left without teachers or schools, “Which leads them to child labor, trafficking or early marriage.”

He added that refugee societies will suffer from a lack of shelter, water and food, and he said: “Most of the refugees remain near their homes. Reducing aid will make the world less secure, pushing more desperate people to asylum or proceed with [أماكن] far”.

Grande said that the Refugee Commission has sought to find innovative and effective ways to achieve its mission, “Use of every donation offered to virgins of danger.” He added that more than 90 percent of its employees work on the front lines, and provide their services to affected societies.

He pointed out that the Commission, in cooperation with its partners, responded to 43 refugee emergencies last year alone. But he warned that with the low financing, the lack of employees, and the decline in the presence of the Commission in the countries hosting refugees, then “The equation is simple: the souls will be lost.”

The High Commissioner said that what is happening today is not just a lack of funding, but rather “Responsibility Crisis”, Adding that the cost of failure “It will be measured by suffering, instability and the loss of the future.”

He stressed the commitment of the established commission towards the people who were forced to flee their homes, and indicated that through continuous support, “We can identify the most vulnerable and help groups, spread quickly when new emergency situations occur, help stabilize fragile areas, and facilitate the safe return of refugees to their homes.”

He called on member states to fulfill their obligations towards the displaced, and said: “Now is the time of solidarity, not retreat.”
