The basic inflation in Japan records 3 % in February

Tokyo on March 21/ WAM/ Government data showed today, Friday, that the annual basic inflation for consumer prices in Japan recorded 3% in February 2025, to remain above the target of the central bank at 2% and enhance the market expectations with further raising interest rates.

The increase in the reading of the basic inflation, which excludes the effect of the costs of fresh, volatile food commodities, exceeded the average market expectations of 2.9%, while inflation slowed from the previous month when it reached 3.2%.

The Central Bank of Japan kept interest rates without changing yesterday, Wednesday.
