"Islamic affairs" Cultivation of 6000 seedlings is completed in mosques

Abu Dhabi, March 21 / WAM / The General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, the cultivation of more than 6000 seedlings within the first phase of the “Snap Masidna” initiative in about 123 mosques in various regions of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in harmony with the “UAE cultivation” initiative, enhancing the local environment and supporting biological diversity through tree cultivation in the vicinity of mosques.

This comes from a total of 10 thousand trees donated by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and President of the Presidential Bureau, in support of the initiative “We plant our Masida” launched by the authority in cooperation with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment to grow trees around mosques.

The authority stated that 6061 seedlings of Ghaf and Sidr trees were planted in 123 mosques distributed in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra, where 2303 seedlings were planted in Abu Dhabi (1200 Ghaf and 1103 Sidr) in 37 mosques, 2225 seedlings in Al Ain (1098 Gaf and 1127 Sidr) in 30 mosques, 1533 seedlings in Al Dhafra (815 Ghaf and 718 Sidr) in 56 mosques.

The authority emphasized that the second stage of the initiative will cover the mosques of the northern Emirates, where the process of planting trees in the mosques takes place, according to the plan prepared by the authority until the completion of the targeted number through continuous follow -up and identifying the workflow at a continuous pace for the completion of the project, indicating its endeavor through this initiative to enhance environmental sustainability, and contribute to increasing the green area, in line with the UAE’s vision to achieve a sustainable and prosperous environment.

The Authority valued the public interaction with this initiative, which translates the state’s directions and its wise leadership, in spreading the best sustainable environmental practices and directions by planting trees and plants and increasing the vegetation, noting that this experiment will be circulated to the rest of the mosques according to the authority’s plans and strategy.
