16 dead and destroy hundreds of buildings in forest fires in South Korea

At least 16 people were killed and 19 others were injured by the forest fires that swept the southern regions of South Korea, amid dry weather and strong winds, according to government authorities, today, Wednesday.
The authorities in the city of Andong and a number of cities and neighboring towns in the southeast ordered the residents to evacuate their homes, while firefighters are struggling to control several fires that caught caught by dry winds, which led to the burning of more than 43 thousand acres of land and the destruction of hundreds of buildings.

5500 people evacuate

According to the Ministry of Interior and Safety, more than 5,500 people were forced to evacuate their homes in Andong and neighboring provinces, Uzung and Sanchyung.
