المملكة: Dust storms decline by 75%… and the eastern records their lowest levels

The Kingdom recorded a significant decrease in the number of dust cases by a rate of 75% during the month of March 2025, compared to the historical rates known for the same period, according to what was announced by the Regional Center for Dust and Sand Storms.
The report issued by the center indicated that this remarkable decrease reflects an improvement in climate and environmental indicators in the Kingdom, where dusty activity focused this year in the central, southern and western regions, while the eastern regions and the northern borders witnessed a sharp decline in the cases of dust and dust raised.
The center pointed out that these positive results are due to several interconnected reasons, most notably the changes in the pattern of air currents that contributed to reducing the movement of sand storms, in addition to the continuous national environmental efforts, foremost of which is an initiative Saudi Arabia That enhances vegetation and fights desertification.
The rating program also contributed to an effective role in improving air quality by enhancing rainfall opportunities, which are inherently to depose the outstanding molecules in the air, in addition to the important role that royal reserves play in protecting environmental diversity and reducing the causes of soil erosion.

The regional center confirms that this decrease represents an important indication of the effectiveness of environmental policies in the Kingdom, and enhances its regional and international position in facing the challenges of climate change and sandstorms, within the framework of its obligations to the Kingdom’s 2030 vision and sustainability goals.
