Czech Sarah Bjelic wins the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Women’s Tennis Championship title

ABU DHABI, 8 February, 2018 (WAM) – Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, President of the Emirates Tennis and Padel Federation, crowned Czech Sarah Bajlik with the title of the fourth edition of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open Women’s Tennis Championship “500 points category”, which concluded its competitions tonight at the International Tennis Complex in Zayed Sports City.
The coronation ceremony was attended by His Excellency Arif Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and Dr. Bakhit Al Kathiri, CEO of the UAE Investment Sector at Mubadala.
The young Czech Sarah Bjelic won the title after winning the final match over the Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova in two sets without a response, 7-6 and 6-1.
In the doubles competitions, Ekaterina Alexandrova compensated for her loss in the singles final, and won the doubles title alongside Australian Maya Joynt.
The duo, Alexandrova and Joynt, succeeded in clinching the final match against Teresa Mihaljkova and Olivia Nichols with a score of 6-3, 6-7, 10-8, in a match postponed due to weather conditions.
