Trump is optimistic about reaching an agreement with Beijing

White House journalist Caroline Levitte announced on Friday that US President Donald Trump is optimistic about reaching a trade agreement with China.

She added during a press conference that “the president has completely explained that he was open to reaching an agreement with China.”

While she added, “If China continues to respond, it will not be in its favor,” according to Reuters.

And earlier today, Beijing responded to the White House announcement yesterday, raising customs duties on Chinese goods to 145%.

Where the Chinese Ministry of Finance announced the raising of additional customs duties on American goods from 84% to 125%.

She also made it clear that these drawings will be applied as of tomorrow. The Minister of Finance stressed that his country will fight to the end if Washington insists on continuing to violate its interests.
