The Head of State and the President of Azerbaijan discuss cooperation relations within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” and Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, discussed the relations of the two countries and joint work between them to expand their horizons, especially in the economic, investment and development fields, renewable energy and other aspects that serve common interests and contribute to achieving mutual development, within the framework of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

This came during the reception of His Highness the President of the State at the Beach Palace in Abu Dhabi, Ilham Aliyev, who is on a working visit to the country.

The meeting also touched on the recent announcement of the Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity (the historic peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia) among the winners in its 2026 session as a global model for reconciliation and a historic step to end conflicts. In this context, His Highness the Head of State congratulated President Ilham Aliyev, noting that it is a tribute to the wisdom of the two countries in reaching this agreement, which opens new horizons for peace, cooperation and stability between them and in the Caucasus region for the benefit of all its peoples.

For his part, the Azerbaijani President appreciated the efforts of His Highness the President of the State, his charitable initiatives, and the diplomatic efforts made by the United Arab Emirates to consolidate the causes of peace, stability, and regional and global security.

The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Presidential Cabinet, His Highness Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and National Security Advisor, and His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed.

Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office for Special Affairs, a number of ministers and senior state officials, and the delegation accompanying the guest president.

During the meeting, a letter of intent was announced between the UAE and Azerbaijan regarding defense cooperation, in addition to a memorandum of understanding regarding twin relations between the Department of Municipalities and Transport – Abu Dhabi and the Azerbaijani city of Baku.

The President of Azerbaijan arrived in the country earlier today, where he was received by His Highness the President of the State, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the State, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Presidential Cabinet, and a number of senior officials.
