Al Ain Farms … a symbol of giving and sustainability in the Emirates

Al Ain, April 12 / WAM / Al Ain Farms in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi represented a cornerstone of the agricultural sector sustaining system in both its vegetative and animal, and the promotion of food security in the UAE, given the diversity of the crops it produces, and is distinguished by the use of modern agricultural methods and technology.

The number of farms in the Al Ain region at the end of 2023 was approximately 12 thousand and 357 farms, including 26 organic farms and 21 water farms, while the number of farms obtained by international certificate reached 827 farms, according to the “Agricultural and Food Security Data platform” of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Agriculture and Food Safety.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, President of the Abu Dhabi Agricultural Club, said that the farmer is a symbol of giving and sustainability in the UAE, and in particular in the city of Al Ain, which witnessed a distinct agricultural renaissance, thanks to the great efforts made by the wise leadership to support the agricultural sector and enhance food security.

He stressed that Al Ain has established its position as one of the most important agricultural cities in the region thanks to a group of ingredients and factors, the most prominent of which is the availability of the necessary infrastructure, material and technical support for farmers, and initiatives that contribute to increasing productivity and improving the quality of crops, enhancing agricultural innovation, in addition to using modern technologies in agriculture, and encouraging organic agriculture.

He pointed to the efforts of the Abu Dhabi Agricultural Club aimed at supporting farmers and activating their role in enhancing national food security through a set of programs and initiatives such as organizing training workshops for farmers, and organizing events and exhibitions that highlight their achievements and encourage them to exchange experiences and experiences between them.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan explained that the Abu Dhabi Agricultural Club believes that agriculture is an essential pillar for achieving food security, and that supporting farmers is an investment in the future of future generations, and continues, from this standpoint, to work hand in hand with the government and farmers to achieve the UAE’s vision to be a global model in sustainable agriculture.

For his part, Salem Abdullah Al -Shamsi, one of the owners of the farmer in Al Ain, praised the unlimited government support for farmers and overcoming all the challenges facing their work, by providing agricultural counseling, supporting companies in marketing agricultural products, supporting quality projects, establishing agricultural festivals, and other efforts that motivated farm owners to continue in agriculture and develop them and benefit from all successful experiences.

He said that Al Ain farms are a model of diversity, innovation and harnessing modern agricultural methods. Besides agriculture in open lands or in greenhouses, these farms have become a major center for fish agriculture, raising poultry and livestock, as well as what they recently witnessed in establishing environmental and agricultural tourism projects.

In turn, Ali Sultan Al -Haddadi, one of the farm owners, pointed to the great role of Al Ain farms in supporting the local market from dates and vegetable products and some types of fruits, in addition to their recent orientation of wheat cultivation, which is one of the strategic crops that enhance food security, stressing its importance in terms of environment; It contributes to increasing green spaces, which in turn help improve air quality, reduce pollution, and provide a natural environment for many living organisms.
