Including 10 countries .. King Salman complex launches the “Linguistic Policies” project

The King Salman International Complex for the Arabic Language launched the “Linguistic Policies in the World” project as part of its participation in the 2025 Human Capacity Initiative Conference, which is currently held in Riyadh.
This project is one of the qualitative research initiatives adopted by the complex within the framework of its strategy aimed at enhancing its reference in the linguistic affairs, and keeping pace with international transformations in the areas of linguistic policy and contemporary linguistic planning.

“Linguistic Policies in the World” project

The project aims to build a comprehensive code for linguistic policies in a number of non -Arab countries and analyze them as a comprehensive and qualitative scientific analysis, by monitoring documents and official sources and studying the impact of these policies in the linguistic and societal reality.
The project provides detailed reports of linguistic policies in (10) countries that represent a variety of five continents, including the United States of America, the United Kingdom, the Republic of France, the People’s Republic of China, the Russian Federation, the Republic of India, the Republic of Indonesia, the Republic of Argentina, the Republic of South Africa and the Republic of Tanzania.
The Secretary -General of the complex, Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al -Washmi, explained that this project is an important step in consolidating the site of the complex as an international linguistic experience, noting that the study of linguistic policies in global contexts.

It contributes to benefiting from successful experiences and building firm linguistic policies based on reality, and contributes to enhancing the presence of the Arabic language in systems, legislation and institutions, stressing that the project represents a scientific ground for establishing and developing official linguistic work according to the developments of the times.

Saudi efforts to support the Arabic language

The project includes the preparation of (3) types of documents, the document of the global linguistic policies system, and a comprehensive comparative report for linguistic policies, as well as (10) reports studying a detailed case for each targeted country that highlights its approach to managing linguistic diversity.
It is also highlighted in the mechanisms of planning, the cultural, social and political impact of these policies, and it is crowned with an international symposium in which experts and specialists from different countries participate, to discuss the future of linguistic policy in the Kingdom in the light of this comparative study.
This project is one of the contributions of the King Salman International Complex for Arabic in the field of linguistic policies, and it comes within the initiatives related to the human capabilities development program because of its strategic linguistic knowledge that contributes to developing the linguistic environment in the Kingdom, linking it to global transformations and enabling the Arabic language, to be an inherent part of the paths of sustainable development and civilizational renaissance.
