Dubai International is the largest airport in the world for the 11th year in a row

Dubai International Airport maintained its position as the largest airport in the world during the year 2024, in terms of numbers of international travelers, for the 11th year in a row, after continuing over the past year strong growth rates in international travel, compared to its counterparts in the list of the largest airports in the world, according to the annual report of the Global Airports Council.

Dubai International Airport established a new standard in the global aviation sector after receiving 92.3 million passengers in 2024, which is the highest annual traffic movement ever in the history of the airport. This achievement exceeds the previous record of 89.1 million passengers that was achieved in 2018.

The report, which monitors the largest airports performance around the world, showed that Dubai International Airport was first resolved in terms of the number of international travelers and a large difference of about 13 million passengers compared to its “London Heathrow” counterpart, which came second, followed by the South Korean Airon Airport by about 70 million passengers.

In the total index of the movement of passengers (international and local travelers), Hartsfeld Jackson Atlanta International Airport maintained its lead, followed by Dubai International Airport and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in the second and third places.

According to the report, preliminary figures indicate that the total number of passengers around the world in 2024 will approach 9.5 billion passengers, an increase of 9% over 2023 or an increase of 3.8% over pre -bacterial levels (2019).
