Trump freezes 2.2 billion dollars to Harvard University after rejecting his demands

The Donald Trump administration has announced the freezing of 2.2 billion dollars in Harvard’s aid for the American University, which is one of the most prestigious in the world, to submit to the White House demands.
Like other American universities, Harvard has witnessed student protests against the war in the Gaza Strip, which is in the range of the White House fire since Donald Trump returned to the presidency.
“The joint work team to combat anti -Semitism announced the freezing of subsidies worth $ 2.2 billion over several years,” the US Department of Education said in a statement.
She added that “the turmoil in university campus in recent years is unacceptable. The harassment of Jewish students is unbearable … It is time for the ancient universities to take this problem very seriously and to commit to a goalless change if you want to continue to receive support from taxpayers.”
The US government announced at the end of March that it intends to deprive the ancient university of federal subsidies of about nine billion dollars at the end of the “full review” process, accusing it of allowing the spread of “anti -Semitism” on its campus.
In early April, several demands were conveyed to the university administration, especially stopping the policies aimed at supporting diversity and changing programs that “feed the anti -high harassment”, according to what was stated in a message published by the Washington Post.
– “Check”
In a letter addressed to students, professors and employees, University President Allen Ghobar confirmed on Monday that Harvard “will not give up its independence or its guaranteed rights in the constitution.”
He added, “No government, whatever the ruling party, can dictate to private universities what it should study and who can accept it and employ it, and what materials can conduct research on.”
The Trump Harvard administration, especially the “scrutiny” of its students and professors. The university responded in a message signed by its lawyers, saying, “Harvard is not ready to accept the demands that exceed the legitimate authority of this administration or any other administration.”
She said that the demands of the American administration “are incompatible with the first article” of the constitution and “they receive from university freedoms that were included in the Supreme Court for a long time.”
The first article of the American constitution includes basic freedoms, especially freedom of expression.
Federal subsidies constitute 11 % of Harvard’s revenues out of an annual budget of 6.4 billion dollars, according to Yynat published by the private university based in Cambridge, near Boston, in the northeastern United States.
